London-based tech startup Arrive is a new on-demand, zero-emission, female-friendly taxi app, that is as much for the drivers as it is the users...

As the popularity of on-demand taxi services rose, so too did the number of reports of predatory drivers taking advantage of those companies’ lack of vetting to attack Arrive app women. Still little has been done to improve safety within those companies. So how about a new service designed with this safety in mind?

London-based (travel tech, technically?) startup Arrive is a new on-demand, zero-emission, female-friendly taxi app.

When users open up the app and input their location and destination, they are shown a list of the available drivers, the fee for that trip, the type of car they are driving, how long they will take to get you there, and their rating. This way, if a female user is more comfortable with a female driver, she can easily select one. While this is a good and unfortunately necessary step forward, we are interested in seeing what safety measures are being put in place for these female drivers who can be summoned by anyone.

For drivers, Arrive will allow you to make more money by earning higher ratings as a driver, and you set your own minimum fare. Users can favourite a driver on the app, so if you make a good impression, you can build up a list of regular clients.

Arrive is as much for the drivers as it is for the passengers, and they will help you track your Arrive app expenses, save money on your equipment, and file your accounts. If you do any sponsored drives for charity, Arrive will not only prioritise you for work, but will also match your donation.

Arrive also works with nightlife venues to bring bespoke offers to Arrive customers. Customers get to skip the queues, waive door fees, get a free drink and more, while the venues get this extra footfall without forking out money on advertising campaigns.

We think Arrive has the potential to take off in the same way those other on-demand taxi services have. This month, they secured a significant launch partner and announced that they were joining the Natwest accelerator programme, so it will be interesting to watch them grow from here...
