Cross-Border Business Ties in Focus at Innovation Island Connect in Dublin and Belfast
by Startacus Admin
TechIreland and Startacus announce details of Innovation Island Connect events aimed at enhancing cross-border B2B relations between the tech sectors in Ireland and NI.
A great opportunity for tech companies, services firms, investors and business leaders to meet at Innovation Island Connect on June 1st in Dublin and June 7th in Belfast.
Innovation Island Connect events are focused on enhancing cross-border business-to-business relations between the tech sectors in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Viewed as the future of the shared island economy, tech companies create highly skilled employment, attract global talent and capital, and drive innovation. The Connect events specifically invite such companies to encourage cross-border collaboration, synergistic partnerships, trade and cooperation.
The first such event was held last year in Dublin, with an overwhelming participation from businesses from both sides of the border. A survey of participants revealed that more than 650 ‘solid connections’ developed as a result of the event, which saw Irish and Northern Irish business executives engaging in a speed-networking session that the organisers facilitated, followed by a reception where attendees had the opportunity to engage further.
TechIreland and Startacus, two startup support organisations, are organising the Connect events with the support of InterTradeIreland’s Synergy programme. Synergy is an InterTradeIreland initiative to elevate the participation of SMEs in innovative networks of entrepreneurs, academics, policy makers, corporates and third sector participants.
The aim of the process is to scale cross-border collaboration among SMEs and other players including universities, third sector organisations and government agencies using cluster and network development support which increase the reach and impact of programmes resulting in mutual economic benefit to both Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Aiming for continuity in these conversations in addition to bringing together a broader group of participants from across the ecosystem on the island, the organisers have decided to schedule Connect 2023 events along with leading large tech conferences - Dublin Tech Summit on June 1st in the RDS, and on June 7th at Clockwise, Belfast - straight after leading NI tech event Digital DNA ends for the day.
Dublin Tech Summit and Digital DNA are among the largest tech conferences on the island and the organisers of both conferences have shown strong support to the Connect events. As thousands of guests arrive in Dublin and Belfast for these conferences, organisers hope tech companies will benefit from networking in both locations that week.
Innovation Island Connect events are free to attend but are invite-only. If you wish to participate, please register* your interest and organisers will contact all qualified companies.
The events are currently co-sponsored by Ulster University, RealTime Recruitment, Creative Spark, Dublin Tech Summit and Digital DNA.
Event details:
Innovation Island Connect in Dublin; 1st June, 3pm-6pm in Dublin Tech Summit, RDS
Innovation Island Connect in Belfast; 7th June, 5pm-7.45pm at Clockwise, River House, 48 - 60 High St, Belfast BT1 2BE
